Les Contamines

Les Contamines-Montjoie is situated in the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps at the base of the Mont Blanc massif. The resort offers 120 kilometers of groomed slopes that attract family groups along with alpine trekkers. Skiing takes place between altitudes of 1,164 meters and 2,500 meters. Due to its specific microclimate and north-facing slopes, the area is regarded as one of the most snow-reliable destinations in the region.

The resort has a history of hosting high-level winter sports competitions such as the Telemark World Cup and international freestyle skiing events. Getting to the area is efficient because Geneva International Airport is located approximately 90 kilometers from the valley. Most visitors reach the resort in about 75 minutes via road transfers. The nearby Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet railway station serves as a primary connection point for those traveling by train from major urban centers.

The primary village is positioned at the valley floor and serves as the central hub for the entire ski area. This main town is where the majority of restaurants and social venues are situated, offering a traditional atmosphere that reflects the heritage of the region. While the nightlife is quieter than in some larger French resorts, the local dining establishments provide a high standard of regional food in a setting that remains authentic to its mountain roots.
