We’re excited to announce the release of version 5.2 of our application!
This update is packed with new features and improvements—so many, in fact, that we might already have forgotten a few.
Piste has always captured an incredible amount of real-time skiing data, but until now we struggled to present it in a clear, accessible way.
With 5.2, the Session Screen has been completely redesigned. The focus? Graphs, graphs, and more graphs. Data is now visualized in a way that’s both intuitive and insightful.
The best part: it’s fully backwards-compatible. That means all of your past ski sessions are automatically supported, allowing you to uncover fresh insights from last season’s runs without lifting a finger.
We’d love to hear your thoughts—if there’s something you feel is missing or could be improved, let us know!
Possibly our new favorite feature, the Session Map has been completely reimagined. We’ve integrated the session timeline into a scrollable wheel, allowing you to move through your ski day in chronological order directly on the map.
It’s a lot of fun to free-wheel through your day.
We previewed this feature in our last blog, and it’s now available in beta!
A select number of lifts and resorts in Piste now show live lift statuses, updated every 15 minutes. Simply tap a lift to see its opening hours and current operation status.
This is just the beginning—we have one more development phase before rolling out full coverage for all supported resorts.
In our last release we introduced POI (Points of Interest) to the search system. With 5.2, we’ve expanded this with category filters, making it easier to refine your search and find exactly what you need.
This one’s still under wraps… for now. All we can say is: you’ll need to be at #NorthernSnowsShow (with a valid lift pass) to experience it. Stay tuned.
Indoor ski resorts just got smarter.
This means more accurate activity tracking right from the start.
After a nine-month bug hunt, we’ve finally cracked one of our most stubborn issues.
A rendering problem in Mapbox was causing extremely low FPS when returning to the map screen. We traced this to the user location puck’s resource-intensive features.
The fix: these features are now enabled only when explicitly requested, eliminating the stutter while keeping advanced functionality available when needed.
We are going to work hard to integrate our live lift and snow system into as many resorts as possible.
