What is in Version 6.0?
We’re excited to announce the release of version 6.0 of our application!
This major version update brings several new features.
Highlights
- Premium groups now enjoy private leaderboards
- Cockpit widgets now overlay the map when recording sessions
- Challenge engine now has new challenge types
- New avalanche information
Leaderboards
The most requested feature is finally here - Group Stats!
You can now compare yourself with your group in the following leaderboards:
- Resort completion
- Top speed
- Distance
- Challenges completed
Each leaderboard is resort-specific and piste will automatically associate all your stats with the correct resort. This feature is available to all premium groups - just ensure an administrator is a premium user and the entire group will have access to the group's premium features.
Cockpit
Observing some of our skiers, we noticed they kept checking their session screen to track their progress, frustrated, they noted the session screen did not automatically update. To solve this, we ensured our users don't even have to navigate away from the map to see their epic shreds.
Introducing Cockpit, a user-customisable grid of ski widgets. Users are able to select a selection of stat summaries to display on the map screen! Some of the widgets include:
- On-piste run count
- Lift count
- Distance skied
- Top speed
- Challenges completed
The widgets can be toggled on the settings page.
Challenge engine upgrade
The challenge engine is upgraded in V6, we now have customisable flags attached to each sub-objective in a challenge. This allows us to add unique modifiers to the rules around awarding objectives.
A few ideas we've played around with in this version:
- Target speed
- Time of day (for night ski challenges)
- No. of laps
Some resorts have these new challenges already, see if you can spot them!
Our future hope is to expose our real-time AI detection engine to the challenge system to allow movement-based challenges (spins, smoothness, grabs/jumps etc).
Real-time Avalanche Alerts
This is very early days, but we are working to expose live avalanche information directly on the resort screen. Soon you'll also be able to subscribe to a week's worth of push notifications of all snow activity in your chosen resort - allowing users to be even safer on the snow!
Buongiorno Italia
We've now completed our Italian translation set, and all Italian users will see the new UI localisation!
Note We often get asked this: As with all our language packs, we operate a 'tick and tock' cycle, we want to get our new features to our users asap. We always release new features in English first, where they are tested and refined based on user feedback. Once the feature is stable, we then tokenise the feature, then submit the tokens off for translation. After about a week, we get them back and implement the translations.
So if you find yourself 'falling out' of your native language on screens - this is why!
Bug Fixes
We've upgraded some behind-the-scenes packages to support 16kb page files on Android. (Google Play was screaming at us for the past 6 months) We've fixed some onboarding mishaps with the find resort button. We've fixed some of the icon selection around live resorts. We've made the startup process a little quicker.
